Former Golden Ram fullback Brian McDermott has been named running backs coach at
University of Mount Union in Alliance, OH. The Raiders have won the Ohio Athletic Conference for the past 20 seasons and have a conference record of 178-2 during that span. They also own ten NCAA Division III National Championships with the last one coming in 2008. Mt Union has lost in the national championship finals the last three seasons.
McDermott will be guiding Sr. Blair Skilliter (80 carries, 547 yards, 7 TD's) and Sr. Jake Simon (79 carries, 524 yards, 6 TD's) as they look to replace Jr. Jeremy Murray (315 carries, 1,730 yards, 20 TD's) who is reportedly academically ineligible.
McDermott, a 2012 graduate of West Chester, was primarily the lead blocker for Jackson Fagan, but did manage to gain 210 yards on 56 carries and 7 TD's and caught 7 passes for 77 yards and 2 TD's in his career. He was also the recipient of the Coaches' Award at the Golden Ram Football Club's team banquet.
