Alumni News - DePalma Still Pursuing Pro Career


Dan Depalma
Former Golden Ram wide receiver Dan DePalma is continuing his pursuit of a professional football career. He was one of 19 players that recently participated in Temple University's pro day. After graduating from West Chester in 2011, DePalma spent the past two years in the New York Giants and New York Jets organizations.

Event News - Killinger Foundation Banquet

The 34th Annual Killinger Foundation Football Banquet will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 6:00 pm at the Concord Country Club in Concordville, PA. The 2013 Hall of Fame inductees are:

- Kevin Ingram '02
- Tom Burnley '98
- Bruce Udovich '72
- Frank Petrone '71
- Dave Eavenson '69

The Foundation will also be honoring the 1971 team.

Ingram was a two-time first team All-PSAC East selection at wide receiver, the 1999 PSAC East Offensive Player of the Year, and a AFCA first team All-American. Ingram still holds the NCAA Division II record for receiving yards in a single game with 401 against Clarion in 1998. Eavenson was a two-time first team All-PSAC East selection at offensive tackle. Udovich was a first team All-PSAC East selection at linebacker while Petrone was a first team All-PSAC selection at defensive tackle. Burnley was a two time second team All-PSAC East defensive lineman.

Under head coach Bob Mitten, the 1971 team compiled a record of 9-1 including a 35-14 victory over Edinboro for the Golden Rams' last PSAC championship. Dominant on both sides of the ball, even if the 47-9 loss to Delaware is included, West Chester outscored its opponents by a combined score of 413-107 including four shutouts.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to use the online ticket sale center. Tickets will not be sold at the door and reservations must be made by April 6, 2013.

Team News - 2013 Spring Game

The Golden Ram spring football game is scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 2013 at noon in Farrell Stadium. The Spring Game will be the culmination of three weeks of practice and two scrimmages and serve as one of the main events that take place during alumni weekend. The first day of spring practice will be Monday, April 1 with scrimmages tentatively set for Saturday, April 13 and Saturday, April 20.

Player News - Brandon Dalberto to Golden Rams

Brandon Dalberto (Berwick) will be joining the Golden Rams according to the Fans of Golden Ram Football facebook page. The 6-3, 235lb tight end was a three year, two way starter on the defensive line and tight end. Dalberto was on Northeast PA Football News' others to watch list of best area defensive linemen and was considered a preseason all-state candidate at tight end. The Bulldogs went 10-2 this past season, losing in the PIAA AAA District 2 championship. Dalberto went on to play in the UNICO All-Star Classic which consists of the Wyoming Valley Conference's top senior football players.

Player News - Justice Smith a WCU Recruit

Justice Smith (Pope John Paul II) is listed as a West Chester University football recruit according to the Fans of Golden Ram Football facebook page. The 6-0, 210lb linebacker was a good player on a bad team. The team captain was consistently the best player on the field although the Golden Panthers were only 1-9 this past season. He led the team in tackles despite suffering a broken thumb early in the season. Smith also starred in the classroom as well as on the football field, succeeding in honors and advanced placement classes.

Player News - Connor McGrath Joining the Golden Rams

Connor McGrath (Upper Merion) will be joining the Golden Rams according to the Fans of Golden Ram Football facebook page. The 6-4, 235lb tight end registered 27 catches for 473 yards and five touchdowns this past season. In his junior season, McGrath notched 23 catches for 511 yards and four touchdowns. McGrath also starred as center for the Vikings basketball team.

Player News - George Shipp Coming to West Chester

George Shipp (North Penn) will attend West Chester University and play defensive end for the Golden Rams according to Fans of Golden Ram Football facebook page. The 6-2, 220lb team captain was #80 on the most recent Philadelphia Inquirer's Top 150 list and on Rick O'Brien's others to watch list of best area defensive ends. The Knights went 32-9 in his three years as a starter, including winning the District One championship and advancing to the PIAA AAAA championship game in his junior year. Shipp also wrestled for North Penn, going 20-12 and qualifying for the state championships in his junior season and finishing his senior campaign 23-7.
