Player News - Darrell Brown Jr to WCU

Darrell Brown Jr (Kingsway, NJ) will continue his football career at West Chester University. The 5-11, 170lb team captain was effective at receiver (1,116 yards, 12 TD's), running back (1,149 yards, 12 TD's) and defensive back (47 tackles, 4 int's) in his three seasons with the Dragons. Kingsway won the South Jersey Group 5 championship in 2021 and advanced to the finals in 2022.

Player News - Riley Hackett Commits to West Chester

Riley Hackett (Upper Dublin) has issued his commitment to play for the Golden Rams. The 6-4, 235lb defensive end's eight sacks were a big reason the Cardinals captured the District 1 Class 5A championship and advanced to the PIAA Class 5A semi-finals.

Player News - Stephen Broderick Remains in Purple and Gold

It's been reported that Stephen Broderick (Upper Moreland) will be coming to West Chester. The 5-8, 165 two-way player made the biggest impact as a running back - he finished this past season with over 1,500 rushing - but he also received league recognition as a defensive back.

Jack Fry (Archbishop Carroll) has tweeted his commitment to play football at West Chester. At 6-4, 265lbs, he's the quintessential two-way lineman, gaining post season honors on defense after his junior year, and recognized as one of the top offensive tackles entering his senior season.

Player News - Kyle Schumann Donning Purple and Gold

Kyle Schumann (Archbishop Ryan) has committed to the Golden Rams. He started his high school football career as a quarterback at Washington, and finished as a middle linebacker at Ryan. After registering 5.5 sacks this past season, it appears his 5-11, 225lb frame will be deployed on the defensive side at West Chester.

Player News - McDermott Murphy to Continue at West Chester

McDermott Murphy (Archbishop Ryan) has stated his plan to continue his academic and football careers at West Chester University. The 6-2, 228lb team captain had more success as a defensive end for the Raiders, but currently projects to be a tight end for the Golden Rams. Murphy also plays baseball at Ryan.

Player News - Connor Becker Joining the Golden Rams

Connor Becker (Stetson/New Oxford) will continue his academic and football career at West Chester. The 6'4 194lb wide receiver hauled in 26 passes for 379 yards and 2 touchdowns during his time with the Hatters. After missing the 2021 season due to an injury, Becker played in six games last season. He expects to have two years of eligibility remaining as a graduate transfer.

Player News - Joey Zack Coming to WCU

Joey Zack (Neshaminy) will continue his football career at West Chester University. He registered 45 tackles, including 12 tackles for loss, from his defensive end position. Zack, at 6'4 216lb, also played tight end for the football team and is an inside presence for the basketball team. He selected West Chester over PSAC East rival Millersville.

Richard Pohorilenko (Council Rock South) will continue his academic and football career at West Chester. The 6'2 260lb offensive lineman was a team captain for the Hawks. Pohorilenko selected West Chester over Eastern and Ursinus.

PA Football News - Mayhem’s Game of the Week

Alumni News - Lex Rosario Signs With Sugar Skulls

Former Golden Ram wide receiver Lex Rosario has reportedly signed with the Tucson Sugar Skulls of the Indoor Football League.

Roasario played in the IFL last season with the Bismarck Bucks. In 11 games, he made 31 catches for 330 yards and eight touhdowns.

In his four seasons at West Chester from 2016-2019, Rosario made 121 catches for 1,603 yards and 10 touchdowns. The best game of his college career came in his final game in a first-round playoff loss to Notre Dame in 2019 where he hauled in 11 catches for 163 yards and a score. Rosario earned first team All-PSAC East honors in 2018 and led the Golden Rams in receptions and receiving yards in both 2018 and 2019.

The Sugar Skulls open the 2023 season on Sunday, April 2 at the San Diego Strike Force.

Player News - Chris Treshock Making His Way to West Chester

Chris Treshock (Southern Columbia) has signaled his plan to play football at West Chester University. The Tigers have used their explosive offense to capture the PIAA Class 2A state championship in each of the past four seasons. Behind the 6-2, 285lb right tackle, Southern Columbia rushed for 4,935 yards at an 8.6 yards per carry average. And those numbers are slightly down from 2021 when they averaged 9.6 yards per carry for a total of 5,157 yards.

Rondell Bradley Jr. (Truman) has tweeted his intention to play football for the Golden Rams. It will be interesting to see where the 5-11 175lb athlete plays for WCU as he has received league honors at both wide receiver and running back, started as a defensive back, handles punt and kick returns, and has even played quarterback when pressed into duty.

Player News - Kimir Stephenson Tweets West Chester

Kimir Stephenson (Ridley) has tweeted his commitment to play football for West Chester University. While a member of one of the best receiver corps in Delaware county, the 6-0, 160lb athlete has received more accolades at cornerback. The Green Raiders qualified for the District 1 Class 6A playoffs this past season.

Player News - Grant Hoover Joins the Golden Rams

Grant Hoover (Hempfield) has decided to play football for West Chester University. Although only 5-9, 170lb, he excelled on offense, defense and special teams as the Black Knights advanced to the second round of the District 3 Class 6A playoffs. Hoover, who also wrestles for Hempfield, selected West Chester over PSAC East opponent Millersville.

Dylan Croner (Lewisburg) has committed to the Golden Rams. The 6-4, 290lb offensive lineman and team captain was a four-year starter for the Green Dragons, who qualified for the District 4 Class AAA playoffs this past season.

Player News - Draven Klick Announces Commitment

Draven Klick (Daniel Boone) has issued his commitment to continue his academic and football careers at West Chester University. The Blazers qualified for the District 3 Class 5A playoffs in 2021, which was their last year in the Berks conference prior to moving to the Lancaster-Lebanon League this past season. The 6-5, 220lb tight end and defensive end selected the Golden Rams over PSAC East rival Lock Haven.

Player News - Luke Cody Tweets West Chester

Luke Cody (North Penn) has tweeted his commitment to play football for West Chester University. At 6-3, 205lb, the team captain played both tight end and edge rusher for the Knights, who advanced to the second round of the Distict I Class 6A playoffs. The Bucks County Courier Times tabbed him as one of five linebackers to watch from the eastern Montgomery/Bucks county area.

Player News - Mari Wright to Play in Dream Bowl Game

West Chester receiver Mari Wright has been selected to play in the 2023 Dream Bowl to be held at Lobo Stadium in Little Elm, TX on January 22 at noon. He will suit up for the Crusaders.

Wright played in all 22 games in his two seasons as a Golden Ram. He totaled 28 catches for 345 yards and four tochdowns. His most productive game at West Chester came this past season in a 24-21 win at East Stroudsburg. In that contest, Wright nabbed seven catches for 63 yards. Prior to coming to West Chester, Wright spent two seasons at PSAC East rival Shippensburg where he made 21 catches for 193 yards and a touchdown in 2018.

The Dream Bowl is a College Football All-Star Showcase of the best FCS, D-II and D-III players from across the country. The game and the series of events held over Martin Luther King Weekend are a celebration of the excellence, commitment, and sacrifice made by the players and their families.

Jack Ruskowski (Archbishop Ryan) has tweeted his commitment to play football for West Chester University. At 6-5, 261lb, the team captain anchored the offensive line for the Raiders. Ruskowski chose West Chester over PSAC foes Seton Hill, Mercyhurst, Clarion, Kutztown, and Lock Haven.

Player News - Griffin Huffman Joins the Golden Rams

Griffin Huffman (Cumberland Valley) will be playing football at West Chester University. The 6'0, 195lb receiver hauled in 23 receptions for 389 yards and five touchdowns for the Eagles who advanced to the PIAA District 3 Class 6A playoffs. The team captain also particiaptes on the Cumberland Valley track and field team in the 100 meter dash, discus and shot put. The standout student selected West Chester over PSAC West schools Edinboro, Seton Hill, California, Clarion.

Player News - Ian Hornberger Coming to WCU

Ian Hornberger (Loyalsock) has tweeted his commitment to play football for West Chester University. At 6-5, 305lb, the massive two-way lineman helped the Lancers to an 11-2 record, falling in the Distict IV Class 3A championship. A three-year starter for Loyalsock, Hornberger was a team captain for both the football team and the track and field team and is an all-state tuba player.

Player News - Final Accolade for Jackson Taylor

Junior linebacker Jackson Taylor has been named to 2022 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America Team. This is the second consecutive year that he was named to the prestigious list.

Taylor was named first team All-PSAC East, PSAC East Defensive Player of the Year, All-Super Region 1 by the Division 2 Conference Commissioner's Association, and All-American by both the AFCA and the Associated Press. This will be the last external award that Taylor will receive as a Golden Ram as he recently committed to the Univerity of Delaware for his final season of eligibility.

Player News - Another Accolade for Jackson Taylor

Junior linebacker Jackson Taylor has been named to D2Football.com Elite 100 for 2022. This is the second consecutive year that he was named to the prestigious list.

Taylor was named first team All-PSAC East, PSAC East Defensive Player of the Year, All-Super Region 1 by the Division 2 Conference Commissioner's Association and a Cliff Harris Award finalist.
