Former Golden Ram quarterback John Newman ('75) was recently honored by the Delaware Interscholastic Football Coaches Association at their annual banquet. A long-time assistant for the Caesar Rodney Riders, Newman was awarded the Ed Brown Assistant Coach of the Year award. The Riders finished the season 8-4, losing in the DIAA Division I semi-finals to eventual state champion Middletown in Middletown's closest game of the season. Also serving as the Riders' varsity baseball coach, Newman was named Delaware High School Baseball Coach of the Year in 1992 and 2004.
