Player News - Jordan Banks to West Chester

Jordan Banks (Susquehanna Township) has signed a letter of intent to play football at West Chester University. The 6-1, 170lb wide receiver registered over 1,000 yards and ten touchdowns receiving in high school. Banks appeared on the Midstate's returning receiving leaders and Midstate's Top 125 Players lists. In his senior season, he had 31 catches for 686 yards and seven touchdowns as the Indians (10-3) reached the PIAA AAA playoffs. In his junior year, he logged 39 catches for 427 yards and three touchdowns as the Indians (7-5) advanced to the second round of the PIAA AAA District 3 playoffs.

Player News - Jabat Wins Event, Garners Honors

Redshirt freshman wide receiver Jay Jabat won the high jump at the 2013 PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Edinboro University. Jabat cleared a height of 6'8.75" giving West Chester their only championship at the event. He also received All-Region honors in the high jump from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association.

Player News - Billy "Moose" Ford Becomes a Ram

Bill Ford (Malvern Prep) will be joining the Golden Ram football team according to Ted Silary. The 6-4, 230lb, quarterback was #18 on the Philadelphia Inquirer's Preseason List of Top 30 QBs in Southeastern PA list. In his senior season, the team captain was 86-174 (49.4%) for 1,231 yards and eight passing touchdowns to go with his four rushing touchdowns. In his junior year, Ford was instrumental in leading Malvern Prep to a critical win in the Friars pursuit of their 30th Inter-Ac championship.

With two quarterbacks already in this year's recruiting class, look for Ford to assume a new position, possibly at tight end.

Player News - Devan Labau to Join Rams

Devan Labau (St. Mark's) has committed to play football for the Golden Rams. Although the 6-3, 280lb lineman received honors on defense, he's expected to play on the offensive line at West Chester. In his senior season, Labau registered 43 total tackles, 3.5 sacks and three quarterback hurries as the Spartans went 9-3 and reached the semi-finals of the DIAA Division One playoffs.

Event News - Killinger Foundation Fundraising Event

Alumni News - Hale Announces Retirement

Former Golden Ram player and coach Danny Hale announced his retirement effective the end of June 2013. Hale played end for the Golden Rams from 1965-67 and was the head coach at West Chester from 1984-88, posting a record of 40-13. He has been the head football coach of Bloomsburg University from 1993-2012, posting a record of 173-56-1.

In his 25 years of coaching at the two schools, Hale won 13 PSAC East titles and advanced to the NCAA playoffs nine times, including The Golden Rams' first ever appearance in 1988. As player at West Chester, the Golden Rams advanced to the conference championship and the Tangerine Bowl in both 1966 and 1967. West Chester won the conference championship in 1967 with Hale being named MVP of the game.

Player News - Elder to Play in All-Star Game

West Chester recruit Jarel Elder has been selected to play in the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association (PSFCA) East/West All-Star Game on Sunday, May 5 at Downingtown West High School. Although Elder excelled at running back, defensive back and on special teams, he is listed on the roster as a defensive back.

Player News - Marcus Sydnor Tweets West Chester

Marcus Sydnor (Haverford) tweeted that he will play football at West Chester. Although the 5-10, 160lb speedster received numerous honors as a cornerback, he's expected to be a wide receiver at West Chester. Syndor appeared on Rick O'Brien's others to watch list of southeastern PA's best cornerbacks. In his senior season, he snared 12 catches for 274 yards and three touchdowns on offense and nabbed six interceptions on defense, as the Fords (9-3) reached the PIAA AAAA District 1 playoffs.

Player News - Kevin Duggan to Join Golden Rams

Kevin Duggan (Central Bucks West) has committed to play football at West Chester according to a Tweet from his high school coach, Brian Hensel. The 6-0, 200lb linebacker was #141 on the most recent Philadelphia Inquirer's Top 150 list and on Rick O'Brien's others to watch list of southeastern PA's best linebackers. As a junior, Duggan tallied 57 total tackles on defense and 146 yards and two touchdowns on offense. In only seven games in his senior season, the team captain accounted for 320 yards and three touchdowns on offense and 49 total tackles on defense.
