Team News - 2019 Second Regional Rankings

The NCAA released its second regional rankings of 2019 today. After losing to Kutztown on Saturday, the Golden Rams slipped one spot to #7. The top seven teams in Super Region 1 qualify for the NCAA Division II playoffs. However, if a conference's highest representative is in the top nine in the region, then that school will go to the playoffs via the earned access rule. So if the season ended today, Tiffin, which is the highest ranked member of the GMAC in this week's regional rankings at #9, would take West Chester's position at #7 in the playoff bracket. It's also worth noting that Assumption, currently 6-2, of the Northeast-10 conference, does not appear in the top ten. However, should Assumption win both of their games in the final two weeks, they could move up to #8 or #9. If both Tiffin and Assumption are in the top nine after the final week of the regular season, then they would supplant the #6 and #7 teams in the playoffs.
