Team News - Golden Rams Move to #18 in AFCA Poll

After West Chester's 58-0 shutout of Cheyney on Saturday, the Golden Rams (8-1, 7-1) rose to #18 in the most recent coaches' poll. Previously #16 Carson-Newman lost and the Golden Rams jumped over Colorado School of Mines. West Chester rose to #12 in the D2football.com poll.

After his abbreviated appearance against Cheyney, quarterback Sean McCartney is now ninth in the country in passing efficiency with a 162.1 rating and the Golden Ram team passing efficiency remains fifth at 162.37. Team total offense is 20th with 482 yards per game, 20th in passing with 296 yards per game and 14th in scoring with 41.4 points per game. The offense is eighth in third down conversions at a rate of 50.8%.

The team defense rose to 12th in passing efficiency at 95.1 and remains first in fourth down conversions at 10.5%. After holding Cheyney to 47 yards and no points, team total defense is now 28th at 309 yards per game and scoring defense is 18th at 17.0 points per game. Defensive end Andrew Cohen is 26th in the country in sacks with 0.9 sack per game and cornerback Al-Hajj Shabazz is 50th in passes defended with 1.2 per game.

The team is up to 12th in the country in net punting at 37.6 yards per punt.

West Chester visits East Stroudsburg on Saturday at 1:00.
