Last Meeting:
10/31/2015 West Chester 41 - Cheyney 20
Penalties and turnovers nearly doomed the Golden Rams, but the defense held the Wolves to just 147 total yards. Pete Galiano and John Dubyk each had three tackles and Ted Patton had an interception and a pass breakup to pace the defense.
Pat Moriarty threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns, but also had two interceptions. Eerin Young had 131 yards rushing while Mike Class added 50 yards on the ground. Tyler Karpinski had three catches for 42 yards.
Scouting the Opponent:
The Wolves have a stable of running backs led by freshman Erik Heller (61 carries, 327 yards, 4 TD's). But you could easily see Devin Miller (43 carries, 180 yards), redshirt freshman James Madlock III (51 carries, 191 yards 1 TD) or Brandon French (51 carries, 166 yards, 2 TD's) get the ball. Quarterback Dominick Trautz (56 of 133, 564 yards, 2 TD's, 9 interceptions) looks for either Marcus Lyles (22 catches, 190 yards, 1 TD) or freshman tight end Kyle Berlin (5 catches, 101 yards, 1 TD).
The defense is paced by linebacker Jamiel Hines (48 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss). Defensive ends Keyson Dingle (39 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss) and All-PSAC East recipient Joseph Bryant (26 total tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss) look to get into the backfield while cornerbacks Marvin Easter (38 total tackles, 3 pass breakups, 1 interceptions) and Jamaal Smith (26 total tackles, 6 pass breakups) patrol the secondary.
Brendyn Van Demark handles all of the kicking duties, averaging 32 yards per punt, with five inside the 20. He has made five PAT's and converted a 21-yard field goal while having two others blocked.
Analysis: The Wolves still haven't won a PSAC game in six years since they defeated winless Millersville in October of 2010. Cheyney ranks last in the PSAC in scoring offense, passing offense, total offense, first downs, third down conversions, scoring defense, passing efficiency defense, interceptions, kickoff coverage, punting, and PAT kicking. West Chester is heavily favored by both Atomic Football - 50 points - and Massey Ratings - 43 points.
