Team News - Golden Rams Slip to #10 in AFCA Poll

Despite defeating Lock Haven by a score of 41-16 on Saturday, the Golden Rams (5-0) slipped to #10 in the most recent coaches' poll. Although none of the top 15 teams lost this past weekend, Shepherd, the team that West Chester defeated last season in the Super Region 1 Championship, edged ahead of the Golden Rams by one point. West Chester remained #9 in the D2football.com poll, however.

Sean McCartney has moved up to fourth in the country in passing efficiency with a 175.9 rating. The Golden Ram team passing efficiency is also fourth at 178.9. After a pair of 600+ yard outputs, the offense is 14th in total yardage with 509 yards per game, 12th in passing with 327 yards per game and 11th in scoring with 44 points per game. The offense remains fifth in third down conversions at a rate of 54.4%.

The team defense also has some lofty rankings - 19th in scoring at 15 points per game, 22 in rushing with 104 yards per game, 20th in passing efficiency at 97.5 and 25th in total yardage with 298 yards per game. Defensive end Andrew Cohen is 20th in the country in sacks with 1.0 sack per game and cornerback Al-Hajj Shabazz is 21st in passes defended with 1.6 per game.

West Chester's next action is Thursday at 7:00 pm at Kutztown when they take on the Golden Bears (3-2).
