Sophomore defensive end George Shipp has been named PSAC East Defensive Player of the Week after West Chester's 33-22 victory over Bloomsburg. Shipp registered six total tackles including two solo sacks for a total of 19 yards.
Shipp's first tackle came early in the game when he sacked the Bloomsburg quarterback in the end zone for a safety. He next tackled once of the top rushers in the PSAC for no gain. He then teamed up with linebacker Kevin Duggan to throw down a scrambling quarterback for a five-yard loss. In the third quarter, Shipp registered a solo sack for a loss of 11 yards and also forced a fumble on the play. It marked the first two sacks of the season for Shipp after logging two last year at Kutztown.
