For his efforts in West Chester's come-from-behind 38-28 win at Shippensburg, sophomore defensive back Maurice Beverly has been named PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Beverly made a game-high nine tackles, eight of which were solo stops. He also forced two fumbles, recovered one of them and returned it 99 yards for a touchdown. His scoop-and-score came midway through the third quarter when Shippensburg was on the verge of closing West Chester's 24-14 lead, and instead put the Golden Rams up 31-14. It broke the record for longest return in school history set by Jim Pribula against East Stroudsburg in 1959.
