Team News - 2026 WCU Football Schedule

Here are some comment's on this season's schedule:
  • West Chester has been playing football since 1920, and Lincoln shows results as far back as 1894, but this is the first time that the two schools located less than 25 miles apart will face each other on the gridiron.
  • Also for the first time ever, West Chester will play the Lackawanna Falcons. Lackawanna fills the void in the conference after Mercyhurst transitioned to Division I two years ago. For geographic purposes, Lock Haven will move back to the PSAC West (where they were prior to 2013) and Lackawanna will compete in the East division. Lackawanna is transitioning from a junior college to a four-year institution. The game will count in the PSAC standings, however it will not be considered a Division II game as Lackawanna has not officially applied to transition to Division II.
  • The Golden Rams will face two teams that qualified for the Division II playoffs last season: PSAC champion Kutztown which advanced to the national semifinals, and Indiana.
  • West Chester is scheduled to make two long treks to the northwest corner of the state when they face Edinboro in week 3 and then Gannon on the last week of the season. The Golden Rams can avoid that trip to Erie in the middle of November by winning the PSAC East, in which case they will travel to the PSAC West winner for the PSAC championship game.
  • West Chester will host three evening games against Indiana, Shepherd and Lackawanna.
  • Including their own, the Golden Rams will participate in three homecoming games and three senior days.

2026 Spring Game Report

Several observation from this year's spring game:
  • The format pitted the Purple Squad as the offense versus the Gold Squad as the defense. This allowed for the first team offense to face the first team defense, but also required a modified scoring system in which the defense was awarded six points for a turnover and three points for a three-and-out.
  • All transfer members of the 2026 Unofficial Recruiting Class were in uniform with the exception of Robert Ford II. So a dozen incoming players already have a semester with their new team under their belts.
  • All incoming freshmen members of the 2026 Unofficial Recruiting Class were introduced at halftime with the exception of quarterback Cole Ordway. Ordway plays shortstop for the Easton Rovers and they were in Cooperstown, NY to take on West Chester East on historic Doubleday Field.
  • In a flashback from last season, the offense had a first-and-goal from the four-yard line. Three running plays later, they were attempting a field goal. The defensive line and linebackers made their point early in the evening.
  • Redshirt freshman Blaise Boland had a nice sack and will be pushing for playing time in his second year.
  • Shippensburg transfer punter Domenic Nardini had great hang time and distance on his punts, but since they were uncontested kicks, he was able to take as much time as he wanted. That's likely not going to work for a team that had four punts blocked last season, ranking 152 out of 157 teams.
  • A day after the game, redshirt freshman receiver Jayden Johnson and redshirt freshman defensive tackle Zephaniah Bradley-Brown entered the transfer portal.
