Game Preview - Millersville

The Golden Rams (2-1) open PSAC East play when they host the Millersville Marauders (0-3). Kickoff for homecoming at Tomlinson-Fillippo Field at Farrell Stadium is scheduled for Saturday at 2:00.

Series History:
West Chester leads the overall series 74-18. Millersville alumnus Drew Folmar is in his first year at the helm after J.C. Morgan was fired midway through the 2025 season. After several assistant coaching stints, Folmar, a four-time All-PSAC East quarterback for the Marauders from 1997-2000, spent 2013 as head coach at Kutztown and subsequently served as an assistant at Lehigh, Elon, and Bucknell.

The Golden Ram defense held Millersville to just 217 yards of total offense. Defensive end Seamus McCain had six tackles including two sacks. Jamir Reyes had two interceptions and Ronnell McCorn also made a pick. Kicker Rylan Zuk converted all five of his PAT attempts and also made a career-long 47-yard field goal.

Scouting the Opponent:

The Marauders have struggled to find a healthy quarterback this season. Senior Ryan Zeltt (17 of 28, 144 yards) left their opener after just one offensive series due to an injury. He was relieved by junior Tommy Hunsicker (17 of 31, 177 yards, 1 TD, 2 int) who also started their second game. But Hunsicker got hurt in that contest and was relieved by sophomore Eddie Corkery (10 of 25, 190 yards, 2 TD's 1 int). Zeltt returned to play most of their game last week, a 70-10 loss to #11 Slippery Rock. Among the eleven guys who have caught passes from the trio of quarterbacks are freshman wide receiver Jayden Walters (8 catches, 207 yards, 2 TD's), wide receiver Caileb Howse (8 catches, 46 yards), team captain Colin Hastings (6 catches, 62 yards), and speedy Nakhi Bullock (6 catches, 52 yards, 1 TD). While Hunsicker (23 carries, 125 yards, 2 TD's) is their leading ground gainer, running backs Mekhi Ashby (33 carries, 114 yards) and Xavier Kingcade (14 carries, 13 yards, 1 TD) get the bulk of the carries.

Linebacker Bryce Beutler (30 tackles, 2.0 TFL) is on his way to repeating as an All-PSAC East selection. Experience comes from fellow linebacker Kai Stiansen (21 tackles, 2.5 TFL) and defensive back and Bishop Shanahan graduate Nick Romano (19 tackles). Freshman defensive lineman Amir Anderson (9 tackles, 2.0 TFL) has one of the team's three sacks this season, while his line mate Max Hostetter (10 tackles, 1 int, 1 QBH, 1 blocked kick) has one of the team's three interceptions. Defensive back Antonio Johnson (1 tackle, 4 PBU) is second in the PSAC in pass breakups, and Golden Ram fans may recall that defensive back Damir Williams-Bey originally committed to West Chester.

Roger Staron (22 punts, 37 avg, 7 FC, 3 I20) handles the punting, while Gryffin Mitstifer (1 of 1 FG, 27 yards, 3 of 4 PAT) and Keegan Maher (1 of 1 FG, 36 yards, 1 of 1 PAT) split the place kicking duties.

Analysis:

It's pretty clear that coach Folmar is playing the guys that he recruited. That is, this team is very young. Through three games this season, the Marauders have been outscored 134-48 and have been outgained 1,690-787. One place that Millersville has found success is red zone offense where they are 5 for 5. If the Golden Rams play as well as they did last week in Edinboro, the large crowd should be celebrating a lot on homecoming.

Massey Ratings is projecting a 38-17 Golden Ram win while Versus Sports simulates and even wider margin of 40-15.
