Event News - PAC 10 Senior Bowl
A future Golden Ram will be participating in the 5th Annual PAC 10 Senior Bowl football game to be held at 6:00 pm on June 5 at Owen J. Roberts High School.
Multi-purpose player Khalif Sinclair of Norristown will suit up for Team Powell which will be coached by Norristown head coach Jason Powell. Current Golden Rams who previously played in the PAC-10 Senior Bowl include Justice Smith and Ryan Panella.

Player News - Gilbert Receives Preseason Honors
Senior left tackle and team captain Doug Gilbert has been named second team preseason All-Division II by Lindy’s Sports. Gilbert is a two-time first team All-PSAC East selection and after last season was named first team CCA All-Super Region 1, first team All-ECAC, second team Dan Hansen Football Gazette Super Region 1 and second team USA College Football All-American.
Prior to last season, Lindy's ranked West Chester #16, but this year, the Golden Rams do not appear in their top 25. West Chester's week two opponent, Slippery Rock, is slotted at #9 according to Lindy's.

Event News - Bucks-Montco Lions All-Star Football Classic
At least one future Golden Ram will be participating in the First Annual Bucks-Montco Lions All-Star Football Classic to be held on June 3 at 7:30 pm at Willliam Tennent High School in Warminster.
Quarterback Mike Alley of Pennsbury is slated to suit up for the Bucks County team. Running back Nafeese Nasir of Plymouth Whitemarsh who was introduced at the Spring Game will play for Montgomery County, although he is listed as "undecided" regarding his future plans.
Current Golden Ram linebacker Zack Hockman of Pennridge was named MVP of last year's Bucks County Lions Football Classic. That event has merged with the former Montgomery County All-Star Football Classic to form the Bucks-Montco Lions All-Star Football Classic. The event is sponsored by the Bucks County Lions Club with the charitable funds raised by the game going to Lions Club charities.
The game is being dedicated to former Norristown football coach and West Chester University football player Roger Grove.
The game will also be streamed on WBCB 1490.

Event News - Hero Bowl
A future Golden Ram will be participating in the 40th Annual Delaware County Hero Bowl football game to be held at 7:30 pm on June 2 at Cardinal O'Hara High School.
Expected to participate in the contest is kicker George Lambritsios of Marple Newtown who will suit up for Team Red.
The Hero Bowl serves as Delaware County's senior all-star game with all proceeds going to benefit the Hero Scholarship Fund of Delaware County to provide scholarships to the children of police officers, fire fighters and EMS workers who have given their lives in the line of duty.

Event News - Valor Bowl
A future Golden Ram will be participating in the 18th Annual Valor Bowl to be held at 7:15 pm on Wednesday, June 1 at Bayard Rustin High School.
Receiver Dan Neuhaus of Bishop Shanahan will suit up for the West All-Stars.
The Valor Bowl was founded by Scott Allison and former West Chester Golden Ram and Killinger Hall of Fame member Joe Carroll, and serves as Chester County's senior all-star game with all proceeds going to benefit the Chester County Special Olympics.
Several current West Chester University football players have participated in the Valor Bowl including Sean Steinmetz, Josh Ganzelli, Ryan Fay, Ben Smith, Bill Ford, Quinten Cheyney and Dan Murphy. Other notable Valor Bowl alumni include 2001 North Offensive MVP Bob Findora who later led the Golden Rams to the 2004 Division II National semi-final and 2010 East Offensive MVP Rondell White who led the Golden Rams to the Division II National semi-final in 2013.

Player News - Isaiah Bruce Tweets WCU Commitment
Isaiah Bruce (Upper Darby) has tweeted his commitment to play football for the Golden Rams. The 5-7, 182lb running back did not appear on anyone's preseason player watch lists, but had a breakout year by setting the Delaware County single season record for rushing yards (2,450) and touchdowns (37). He led the Royals to a 10-3 record and into the second round of the PIAA Class AAAA playoffs. In the first-round 59-34 win over Council Rock North, Bruce ran for 337 yards and seven touchdowns. The speedster also logged two scores and 316 yards receiving in 2015.

Event News - Philadelphia City All-Star Game
Three future Golden Rams will be participating in the 42nd Annual City All-Star Game to be held on Thursday May 26 at 7:00 pm at Northeast High School.
Wide receiver Mike Devlin and defensive lineman Omar Peterkin, both of Archbishop Wood, will play for the Non-Public Team while Ben Franklin wide receiver Rasheem James will suit up for the Public Team.
Several former Golden Rams have participated in this contest including All-American wide receiver Michael Washington (2004), WCU MVP quarterback Mike Mattei (2008), All-American cornerback Al-Hajj Shabazz (2010) and wide receiver Erick Brundidge (2010). Current Golden Rams that played in the game include Byron Cooper, Kevin Malone, Blaise Schieler, Sean Boylan, Nydair Rouse, Steven Denby, Connor Foley, and Paul Dooley.

Alumni News - Roger Grove Passes Away at 70
Former West Chester football player Roger Grove has passed away. He was 70.
Grove played halfback for the the Golden Ram teams that went to the Tangerine Bowl in both 1966 and 1967. After graduating from West Chester, he went on to coach football for 27 years at Norristown Area High School, compiling a record of 209-98-6. He led the Eagles to the Class AAAA playoffs in 1998, 1999 and 2000.
Grove is a member of the Montgomery County Coaches Hall of Fame, the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame, and the Killinger Hall of Fame.

Alumni News - Nice Dauphins Fall for First Time
The Nice Dauphins fell for the first time in 2016, dropping a 35-24 decision to the La Courneuve Flash.
Despite the loss, Nice remains in first place in the Elite D1 Standings. The league awards 3 points for a win, 2 points for a tie and 1 point for a loss. At 6-1, Nice has 19 points or 2.71 points per game. Although the Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône Cougars (6-2) have 20 points, they have played eight games, or 2.50 points per game.
With a playoff spot already secured, Nice concludes the regular season on May 29 when they visit Les Argonautes d'Aix-en-provence. Nice defeated the Argonautes by a score of 7-6 in the first week of the season.

Alumni News - Shabazz in Steelers Minicamp
Former Golden Ram cornerback Al-Hajj Shabazz has opened rookie camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Shabazz spent last May as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts and then spent August training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he registered a couple of solo tackles in a Monday night preseason game. He signed with the Steelers in February. Rookie minicamp continues through May 8 at the UPMC Sports Performance Complex.

Alumni News - White Nabs Player of the Week Honors
For the third time this season, former Golden Ram running back Rondell White received offensive MVP recognition from the Fédération Française Football Américain Le Championnat Elite/Division I.
This past week against the Thonon-les-Bains Black Panthers, White carried the ball 18 times for 343 yards and five touchdowns, including the game-winning one-yard leap with 92 seconds left in the contest. He leads the league in rushing and scoring with 1,284 yards on 165 carries for 12 touchdowns. One article noted that the only regret they have is that the Nice Dauphins "play only eight regular season games" this year. Nice was scheduled to play the defunct Pessac Kangourous twice this season.
Nice next plays the La Courneuve Flash on May 15. Nice has already clinched a spot in the four-team playoff which begins June 11 with the championship being held June 25.

Alumni News - Dick Yoder Passes Away at 79
Former West Chester football player, coach and administrator Dick Yoder has passed away. He was 79.
Yoder was a member of the football team from 1955-1959, then served as an assistant coach at West Chester for 17 years. He became Director of Athletics at West Chester State College in 1979 and served in that role for nine years. Yoder is a member of the Killinger Hall of Fame, was a founding charter member of the Golden Ram Football Club and just two weeks ago was inducted into the ECAC Hall of Fame.

Team News - Seniors Honored
Four senior football players were honored at the Rams Athletic Association's 23rd Annual Senior Awards Banquet held at the West Chester University Alumni and Foundation Center yesterday. Senior student-athletes in attendance from all sports were presented with a replica of the ram statue located in front of Old Library. Receiving their statue from Athletic Director Dr. Edward Matejkovic were
running back Brandon Monk,
tight end Tim Brown,
defensive tackle Barry Lyons, and
defensive end Andrew Cohen. Also, Cohen was recognized as a Horrocks Leadership Academy participant.
Head football coach Bill Zwaan took the opportunity to congratulate and thank each of those seniors individually as well as recognize their team accomplishments.

Alumni News - Nice, White Remain Undefeated
The Nice Dauphins were once again led by former Golden Ram running back Rondell White in a 40-34 victory over the Thonon-les-Bains Black Panthers. As a result, Nice now stands at 6-0 on the season. White scored five touchdowns, including the game-winning one-yard leap on fourth down with just 92 seconds left to play. His other scores came on runs of 75, 90, 1 and 30 yards. White totaled 343 yards on 18 carries in the game.
After another week off, Nice plays the La Courneuve Flash on May 15.
