Alumni News - Joe Shay New AD at Lebanon Catholic
Former Golden Ram fullback Joe Shay has been named the athletic director at Lebanon Catholic High School. Shay, a Lebanon Catholic alumnus, was a four-year letter winner for the Golden Rams, playing from 1999 through 2002 and graduating with his degree in kinesiology in 2003. A member of the WCU Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll throughout his entire career at West Chester, he served primarily as a blocking back for the Golden Rams although he did register 132 all-purpose yards including a 24-yard touchdown reception in his senior season.
Shay assumes the athletic director's position from Mike Miller who is retiring after 35 years in the role.

Alumni News - White and Dauphins On Win Streak
The Nice Dauphins continued their winning ways by knocking off the Gladiateurs by a score of 34-12. Surprisingly, former Golden Ram running back Rondell White did not have a single carry. However, as the Dauphins have transitioned to a pass oriented offense, he did haul in seven catches for 210 yards and two touchdowns, accounting for 40% of the team's offensive yards.
The Dauphins (3-5) close the season on May 27 when they host Black Panthers de Thonon (7-2).

Event News - Tri-County All-Star Football Game
A future Golden Ram is scheduled to play in the 16th Annual Lancaster-Lebanon League Tri-County All-Star Football Game to be held on Saturday May 27 at 7:00 pm at Manheim Central High School's Elden Rettew Stadium.
Wide receiver/defensive back Mack Focht of Garden Spot will play for the South squad. The game is sponsored by the Manheim Touchdown Club.

Several future Golden Rams will be participating in the 19th Annual Valor Bowl to be held at 7:15 pm on Thursday, June 1 at West Chester University's John A. Farrell Stadium.
Suiting up for the West All-Stars will be
wide receiver Ethan Harris of Downingtown East,
defensive back Cole Zapf of Downingtown West,
kicker John George of Bishop Shanahan, and
defensive back Chris Day of Downingtown East.
The Valor Bowl was founded by Scott Allison and former West Chester Golden Ram and Killinger Hall of Fame member Joe Carroll, and serves as Chester County's senior all-star game with all proceeds going to benefit the Chester County Special Olympics.
Several current West Chester University football players have participated in the Valor Bowl including Sean Steinmetz, Josh Ganzelli, Ryan Fay, Ben Smith, Quinten Cheyney and Dan Murphy. Other notable Valor Bowl alumni include 2001 North Offensive MVP Bob Findora who later led the Golden Rams to the 2004 Division II National semi-final and 2010 East Offensive MVP Rondell White who led the Golden Rams to the Division II National semi-final in 2013.

Event News - City All-Star Football Game
Two future Golden Rams are scheduled to play in the 43rd City All-Star Football Game to be held on Saturday May 20 at 5:00 pm at Northeast High School.
Offensive lineman Brendan Ruskowski of Archbishop Ryan will play for the Non-Public squad while Devin Darden of Ben Franklin will quarterback the Public team.

Alumni News - Steelers Release Shabazz
The Pittsburgh Steelers have released former Golden Ram cornerback Al-Hajj Shabazz. They did so after drafting cornerbacks in the third and fifth rounds of the NFL draft this past weekend. Playing primarily on special teams, Shabazz played in eight games for the Steelers and Houston Texans last season. His best performance came in the Steelers 30-12 win over the Miami Dolphins in the AFC playoffs when he registered three solo tackles and a forced fumble.

Event News - Additional Golden Rams to Play in PSFCA East/West Game
It was previously announced that quarterback Zach Gilbert will be playing in the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association (PSFCA) East/West All-Star Game on Sunday, May 7 at Mansion Park Stadium in Altoona. Also appearing on the final rosters are defensive back Trael Seegars of Susquehanna Township and linebacker Nate Barnes of Carlisle. Saegers will play for the East squad while Barnes will suit up for the West. Jalik Smith was selected to the East team but declined to participate.
Kick-off is set for 2:00 pm.
Current Golden Rams that also were selected to participate in this annual all-star game include running back Jarel Elder, offensive lineman Shane Kraynik, defensive back Jarey Elder, offensive lineman Frank Tranzilli, offensive lineman Jack Mummert, and defensive lineman Joe DeSanto.
