Player News - David Simmons Tweets DubC

David Simmons (Easton) has tweeted his plan to play football in purple and gold. The 6-3, 225lb defensive end registered at least a dozen sacks over his last two seasons for the Red Rovers who advanced to the District 2/4/11 AAAA subregional each of the last two seasons. More importantly, Simmons played a key role in a defense that stifled Thanksgiving Day rival Phillipsburg this past season, 26-0.

Player News - Chris Carey Tweets Committment to WCU

Chris Carey (St. Joseph) has tweeted his intentions to play football for the Golden Rams. At 6-2, 230lb, he was primarily used as a pass rusher, either at defensive end or outside linebacker. Carey also played tight end and H-back for the Wildcats who, despite finishing second in the Cape Atlantic League, went on to win the NJSIAA Non-Public, Group 2 State Championship for the seventh consecutive time. Big players make big plays in big games and the three-year starter saved one of his 11.5 sacks of 2015 for the second half of the championship contest. In his four year high school career, Carey totaled over 170 tackles and 26 sacks.

Player News - Mark Webb Finishing Career at West Chester

Mark Webb (Bok/Southern/Valley Forge Military College) has tweeted his plans to finish his college career at West Chester. The 6-1, 290lb defensive tackle excelled on both sides of the line in high school, at Bok until its closing after the 2013 school year, and then at Southern. He shared the conference MVP his senior year with a teammate where he was a computer technology track student. He has since gone on to focus on the defensive side of the ball at Valley Forge.

Player News - Simon Williams Transferring to West Chester

Simon Williams (Abington Heights/Lackawanna College) has tweeted his plans to continue his college career in West Chester. The 6-3, 232lb tight end excels in blocking situations, but also had three catches for 50 yards, including a 32-yard touchdown, for the Falcons which finished 8-2 overall and 4-0 in the Northeast Football Conference of the National Junior College Athletic Association. At Abington Heights, he also played on the defensive line for a Comets team that won the District 2 Class AAA Title. As a senior, Williams had 52 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks as a defensive end and 20 catches for 306 yards and three touchdowns as a tight end. He was also named to the 2013 Pennsylvania Big 33 Team on offense.

Player News - Khalif Sinclair Becomes a Golden Ram

Khalif Sinclair (Norristown) has tweeted his intentions to attend West Chester University to play football. The 5-10, 165lb multi-purpose player did everything for the Eagles. As a quarterback he was 10 of 15 for 111 yards and two touchdowns. As a running back, he had 56 carries for 365 yards and five scores. As a receiver, he had 40 catches for 548 yards and nine touchdowns. And as a defensive back, he logged two interceptions returning one for a touchdown. As a result, Sinclair has been selected to play in the PAC-10 Senior Bowl this summer. Norristown is transitioning from the Suburban One last season to the PAC-10 next season. He also played in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl at Raymond James Stadium and was a 2015 Big School Class AAA/AAAA Mr PA Football nominee.

Player News - George Lambritsios Tweets Committment to WCU

George Lambritsios (Marple Newtown) has tweeted a verbal commitment to play football at West Chester. The 6-0, 230lb kicker brings a strong leg to the Golden Rams as he boomed 21 touchbacks on kickoffs and converted a 45-yard field goal this past season for the Tigers. In total, he was 11 of 15 on field goal attempts and 22 of 26 on PAT's as Marple Newton advanced to the District One Class AAA semi-finals. He was named his team's special teams MVP and was also a first team All-Central and All-Delco soccer player.

In his junior season, which was Lambritsios' first season of football, he converted 34 of 37 PAT's and 3 of 6 field goal attempts with a long of 37. And 16 of his 49 kickoffs went for touchbacks. He also averaged almost 34 yards on 12 punts with a long of 52 yards.

Player News - Cordell Cotto Reneges on West Chester

Cordell Cotto (Bethlehem Freedom) who previously tweeted his plans to attend West Chester has now deleted that tweet and has replaced it with his commitment to East Stroudsburg.

Accomplished on both sides of the ball, the 6'4" 270 lb tight end/defensive end was listed among the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association (PSFCA) top prospects of 2016. The Patriots qualified for the District XI Class AAAA playoffs the past two seasons. He also finished third in District XI wrestling as a heavyweight as a junior, but missed his senior season due to an injury.

Player News - Andrew Derr Reinstated

The Daily Local News is reporting that quarterback Andrew Derr has been reinstated to the Golden Ram football team. After some off field legal issues prior to last season, Derr's name was removed from the roster, but no explanation was provided. Now it is being revealed that he was suspended for the 2015 season.

The article states that Pat Moriarty remains the starter and that Derr will "have to win the job from him". In 2014, as a backup for Harlon Hill finalist Sean McCartney, Derr was was 15 of 27 for 243 yards and 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. His most significant action came in the playoff game at Concord. After McCartney was injured early in the fourth quarter, Derr attempted to lead a comeback and was 5 of 11 for 87 yards and 1 touchdown. At 6'2", 215lbs, he often entered games as a first down running option and gained 60 yards on 20 carries that year.

Player News - Tim Brown NFL Draft Prospects

Tight end Tim Brown appears on Draft Countdown's Tight End Rankings and Small School Sleeper Rankings. The 6'3" 235lb senior is listed at #24 among all draft eligible tight ends and is the highest rated tight end among non-FBS or FCS schools. On the Small School Sleeper Rankings list, which consists of players from non-FBS schools regardless of position, Brown appears at #49.


Brown has led the Golden Rams in all receiving categories for the past two seasons. As a junior, he had 53 catches for 1,059 yards and 17 scores and was named first team All-PSAC East, first team Super Region One by Daktronics, first team Super Region One by Beyond Sports Network, first team Super Region One by Don Hansen Football Gazette, second team All-American by Daktronics and Beyond Sports Network, and first team All-American by Don Hansen Football Gazette.

As a senior, despite missing the first two games of the season due to an NCAA issue and the last two games due to an injury, he still made 33 receptions for 444 yards and five touchdowns. Brown was named first team All-PSAC East, second team Super Region One by Don Hansen Football Gazette, first team All-American by USA College Football, and honorable mention All-ECAC.

In his three seasons as a Golden Ram, Brown made 106 catches for 1,932 yards and 27 touchdowns. In six playoff games, he had 20 receptions for 599 yards and eight touchdowns.

Alumni News - Rondell White, Dauphins de Nice Win Season Opener

Former Golden Ram running back Rondell White and the Nice Dauphins won their season opener over the Aix en Provence Argonauts by a score of 7-6. The game was played on a drenched and sloppy field of Stade Maurice David, but White still managed 152 yards on 37 carries. On Sunday, the Daupins travel to Pessac to take on the Kangourous.

Player News - Steve Myers to Come to West Chester

Steve Myers (Owen J Roberts/Penn State) has tweeted that he will play football next year at West Chester. The 6-2, 315lb offensive lineman walked on at Penn State and was on their roster as a freshman in 2014, but did not see action. At Owen J. Roberts High School, he showed versatility as he played tackle, guard and center for the Wildcats. He also participated in the 2014 Valor Bowl.

Alumni News - Shabazz Signs with Steelers

Former Golden Ram cornerback Al-Hajj Shabazz has signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Shabazz spent last May as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts and then spent August training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he registered a couple of solo tackles in a Monday night preseason game.

After his senior year at West Chester, Hajj was named All-PSAC East, first team Daktronics All-Super Region 1, first team Beyond Sports Network All-Super Region 1, second team Beyond Sports Network All-American, an ECAC Division II Football All-Star, a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award, first team D2football.com All-American, first team Don Hansen Football Gazette All-Super Region 1, and first team Don Hansen Football Gazette All-American.

Player News - Rasheem James Coming to West Chester

Rasheem James (Ben Franklin) has tweeted his commitment to play football at West Chester University. In eight games as a senior, the 5-10, 180lb wide receiver hauled in 34 catches for 734 yards and 11 touchdowns and led the Electrons in points with 84. As a junior, he had 46 receptions for 632 yards and 7 scores. Franklin won the Philadelphia Public League Class AAAA in 2014 and advanced to the PIAA Class AAAA playoffs. This past season, they participated in the District 12 Class AAAA playoffs.

Player News - Mike Devlin Tweets DubC

Mike Devlin (Archbishop Wood) has tweeted a verbal commitment to play football at West Chester. The 6-2, 185lb wide receiver enjoyed a lot of success as the Vikings racked up a record of 38-4 in his final three years, winning the PIAA Class AAA State Championship in 2013 and 2014 and losing only to the eventual state champion in 2015.

Player News - Mike Alley Tweets WCU Commitment

Mike Alley (Pennsbury) has tweeted his commitment to play football for the Golden Rams. The 6-4, 230lb quarterback wasn't a prototypical signal caller for the Falcons as he ran for more yards (1,089) than he threw (845). But the team captain and MVP accounted for 26 total touchdowns in leading his squad to the District One Class AAAA semi-finals. As a junior, he guided the Falcons to the PIAA Class AAAA semi-finals. Alley, an honor student, also plays basketball for Pennsbury.

Omar Peterkin (Archbishop Wood) has tweeted his commitment to play football at West Chester University. The 6-2, 295lb defensive tackle was #80 on last year's preseason Rally 100 list and also played guard for the Vikings who won their seventh consecutive Philadelphia Catholic League Class AAA championship. He played his junior season at Abington.

Player News - Quintin Smith Indicates Golden Rams

Quintin Smith (Central Dauphin East/California) has tweeted that he will play football next year at West Chester. Last season, the 6-0, 195lb safety played in all eleven games for PSAC West rival California, earning one start at Gannon. Over the final six games of the season, the true freshman accumulated 11 unassisted and 9 assisted tackles for the Vulcans.

In high school, he was selected to play in the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association (PSFCA) East/West All-Star Game. One of the top ten Mid-Penn football recruits, he was pursued by schools like Michigan State, Purdue and Cincinnati. He was named Defensive Sophomore MVP at the National Underclassman Five Star Florida Showcase and Defensive MVP at Central Dauphin East after his junior season. He also played basketball and ran track for the Panthers.

Player News - Cody Boozel Tweets Committment to WCU

Cody Boozel (Seneca Valley) has tweeted his intentions to play football for the Golden Rams. The 6-4, 225lb tight end was a team captain for the Raiders which reached the WPIAL Class AAA playoffs. Boozel also played defensive end at Seneca Valley.
