Almost 100 golfers teed off in the 22nd Annual WCU Quarterback Classic held yesterday at Penn Oaks Golf Club in West Chester, PA. Former players and friends alike participated to raise money for West Chester University football. First place went to the team led by former Golden Ram QB Dave McDonald which also consisted of Bill Dunleavy, John McDowell, and Matt Snyder. Second place went to Steve Weaver, Chris Phillips, Chris Luneburg, and Dean DiPasquale. The foursome of Matt Jesson, Keith Jesson, David Donovan, and Alex Wolfington captured third place.
David Donovan and George Caroulis seized the closest to the pin award while mashers Matt Jesson and Josh Socash were the longest drive winners. Thanks to all of those who came out to support Golden Ram football.

Alumni News - Osunde Named WCU Running Backs Coach
Former standout Golden Ram running back Osagie Osunde has been named West Chester University running backs coach. He replaces the position held by E.J. Sandusky who was an assistant for five years. Osunde played at West Chester from 2003-2007 and stands first in career rushing touchdowns with 51, second in career all-purpose yards with 5,844 (Derrick Price - 6,465) and third in career rushing yards with 3,846 (Derrick Price - 4,001). He was a major factor in the Golden Rams' 2004 playoff run amassing all-purpose yards of 166 against C.W. Post, 192 against Shippensburg, 261 against East Stroudsburg and 230 against Valdosta St. Osunde received both his B.S. in marketing and MBA from West Chester University and is the owner of Muscle Gauge Nutrition.

Alumni News - Byrne to ChesCo Sports Hall of Fame
Former Golden Ram football player John "Jack" Byrne has been named to the 2012 Inductee Class of the Chester County Sports Hall of Fame. Byrne grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Northeast Catholic High School where he lettered in football for three years and won the city championship. At West Chester State, he began his football career as a backup running back to two-time All-American Joe Iacone. On the urging of secondary coach Walk Buechele, head coach Jim Bonder agreed to move Byrne to the defensive secondary where he won all-league honors in his senior season.
A three-year letterwinner, Byrne graduated from West Chester in 1964 and subsequently received his master's degree also from West Chester in 1970. He went on to start and coach the football program at West Chester East High School where he later became the athletic director. Byrne was inducted into the Killinger Hall of Fame in 1996. The 2012 Annual Induction Banquet will be held on Saturday, November 10th at the
Coatesville Country Club.

Alumni News - DePalma Readies for 2012
Former West Chester University standout wide receiver Dan DePalma prepares for his second professional season with the New York Giants. DePalma is heralded by his teammates and coaches for his work on the practice squad, where, in preparation for the Super Bowl, he was tasked with emulating New England Patriots wide receivers Wes Welker and Julian Edelman. He's coming off hip surgery this offseason and may not be available until training camp. Nonetheless, his proven work ethic has not gone unnoticed and he's willing to do anything he can to help the team.

The 22nd Annual WCU Quarterback Classic will be held on Monday, July 30, 2012 at 10:30 am at the Penn Oaks Golf Club in West Chester, PA. Presented by National Food Sales, the schedule is as follows:
- 10:30 am Registration
- 11:30 am Clinic hosted by WCU Golf Coach Harry Hammond
- 11:30 am Box Lunch
- 12:00 pm Shotgun Start
- 5:00 pm Cocktail Hour / Silent Auction
- 6:00 pm Dinner / Awards
The price for an individual golfer is $150 with all proceeds from the event going directly into the football scholarship fund. Anyone interested in attending or sponsoring the event is asked to use the online registration center.
