Game Preview - Seton Hill

In their final game before division play commences, the #18 Golden Rams (2-0) travel to Greensburg, PA to take on the Seton Hill Griffins (0-2) on Saturday. Kickoff at Offutt Field is set for 2:00 pm. Parking information can be found here.

Series History:
West Chester owns a 2-0 lead in the series after defeating Seton Hill 45-10 in their first ever meeting in 2014 and then staging a fourth quarter rally to knock off the Griffins 48-38 the following year.

The Golden Rams' offense erupted for 638 yards and 48 points, but two of those touchdowns came in the final three minutes for West Chester to come back from a 38-34 deficit to snag a 48-38 victory. The team was hampered by a whopping 17 penalties for 135 yards. The defense did log three interceptions, including one by now senior captain Nydair Rouse. Rouse also tallied three tackles and fellow team captain Shaquille James had four.

Scouting the Opponent:

Redshirt sophomore Cinque Sweeting (41 carries, 210 yards, 1 TD) is fourth in the PSAC in rushing and classmate Logan Wiland (24 carries, 119 yards, 3 TD's) has a nose for the end zone. Quarterback Ryan Barabe (37 of 73 for 612 yards, 5 TD's, 3 int's) is only a sophomore, but is third in the conference in passing efficiency. Wide receiver Ardell Brown (12 catches, 393 yards, 3 TD's) was All-PSAC West in 2016 and currently leads the conference in receiving yards and touchdowns, while Kinan Humphrey (6 catches, 157 yards, 1 TD) fills out the receiving corp. Brown is dangerous in the punt return game while Humphrey is the primary kick return threat.

Defensive end Malik Scott (18 tackles) and linebacker Jayden McDuffie (18 tackles, 1 sack) are the Griffins' top two tacklers. The team only has three total sacks, four pass breakups and no interceptions.

Analysis:

The Griffins last won a game in October of 2016. It's highly unlikely that Seton Hill can win this game, but West Chester could certainly lose it. As long as the Golden Rams take care of business - limit turnovers and penalties - their talent and preparation should lead to an easy victory. Even though Seton Hill is averaging 31 points per game this season, neither team that they've faced (Virginia Union and East Stroudsburg) is known for its defense. And Seton Hill's 280 yards allowed on the ground is just what West Chester's running game needs to get established. Both Atomic Football and Massey Ratings are predicting a four touchdown margin for West Chester.
