Event News - Golden Rams Honored by ECAC

Members of the 2016 Golden Ram football team were honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) at its annual awards banquet on February 23 in the Toyota Club Room at MetLife Stadium in the New Jersey Meadowlands.

Recognized were All-ECAC First Team members offensive linemen Doug Gilbert and Jarel Elder as well as honorable mention honoree Tyler Drob.

Player News - Joe Kennedy Signs with West Chester

Joe Kennedy (Springfield Delco) has committed to further his education and football career at West Chester University. The 5-11 170lb athlete starred in all facets of the game for the Cougars earning first team all-conference honors as both a cornerback and wide receiver, while also serving as an effective return man and punter on special teams. Kennedy's play this year led Springfield to the PIAA District 1 Class 5A title game and a 12-2 record. For the season - 55 catches for 809 yards and 11 touchdowns on offense and four interceptions on defense.

Event News - Killinger Foundation Banquet

The 38th Annual Killinger Foundation Football Banquet will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 5:30 pm at the West Chester University Alumni & Foundation Center, 202 Carter Drive, West Chester, PA. The 2017 Hall of Fame inductees are:

- Jim Brazill '06
- Matthew Cozza '99
- Matt McFillin '00
- Mike Mitros '99
- Travis Ford-Bey '11

Brazill was a two-time All-PSAC East selection at guard in 2003 and 2004 and served as a team captain in his senior season under head coach Bill Zwaan. McFillin was a first team All-PSAC East center in 1999 under head coach Rick Daniels.

Cozza and Mitros served as team captains under head coach Rick Daniels in 1999. Cozza was a two-time All-PSAC East defensive back in 1998 and 1999 and still ranks in top ten in WCU history in unassisted tackles with 158. Mitros was the 1996 PSAC East Rookie of the Year and All-PSAC East at quarterback in 1998 and 1999. He still holds several WCU career passing records including passing yards (9,834), completions (819), attempts (1,402) and touchdowns (94). Mitros also set three single game West Chester passing records against East Stroudsburg in 1998 - yards (481), completions (38), touchdowns (6). Four weeks later, he broke his own single game passing yardage record with 489 at Clarion, a mark which still stands today.

Ford-Bey was a four time All-PSAC East selection, earning second team honors in 2007 and then first team recognition in 2008, 2009 and 2010. He served as a team captain in 2010 under head coach Bill Zwaan when he led team in tackles for loss and sacks.

Alumni News - White, Elliott Not Enough Against Les Argonautes

Significant efforts from former Golden Rams Rondell White and Eddie Elliott weren't enough for the Nice Dauphins to overcome three interceptions as they fell to the Les Argonautes 35-23.

White had 13 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown, three catches for 26 yards, and a kick return for 25 yards while Elliott had three carries for ten yards and a touchdown, five catches for 82 yards, and a kick return for another ten yards in the contest. The two West Chester alumni accounted for 206 of the Dauphins' 264 yards on offense.

White's touchdown, keyed by a block from Elliott, gave the Dauphins a 17-14 lead early in the third quarter. Elliott's three-yard touchdown run drew Nice to 28-23 midway through the fourth quarter, but a later Dauphins scoring drive was thwarted by an interception.

The Dauphins are off until March 4 when they travel to take on the undefeated La Courneuve Flash.

Alumni News - White, Elliott lead Dauphins to Season Opening Win

The Nice Dauphins opened the 2017 season with a 35-18 win over the Falcons de Bron/Villeurbanne thanks in large part to a pair of former Golden Rams. Running back Rondell White packed the stat sheet with 12 carries for 127 yards and two touchdowns, two catches for 29 yards and another score, and four returns for 80 yards for 236 all-purpose yards. Eddie Elliott, White's teammate at West Chester and also now in Nice, had 11 yards on two carries, 54 yards and a touchdown on four catches and 60 yards on three returns for 125 all-purpose yards. The two combined for 211 of the Dauphins' 328 yards on offense.

The Dauphins are scheduled to host the Les Argonautes on Saturday, February 18.

Player News - Amara Kenneth Headed to West Chester

Amara Kenneth (Academy Park) is joining the Golden Rams. The 6-3, 240lb defensive lineman registered 84 tackles, 10.5 sacks and 19 QB hurries for the Knights that won the PIAA District 1 Class 5A championship and advanced to the PIAA Class 5A semi-finals finishing 13-2. In 2015, Academy Park won the PIAA District 1 Class 3A championship and advanced to the PIAA Class 3A quarterfinals finishing 13-1. Kenneth also performed kickoff duties for the Knights.

Player News - Brendan Clark Transferring to West Chester

Brendan Clark (Father Judge/Temple) is transferring to West Chester. The 6-4, 290lb offensive lineman walked on at Temple last season but did not experience game action. In high school, the Crusaders qualified for the PIAA District 12 Class AAAA playoffs in both 2014 and 2015.

Player News - Adam Schreck Issues WCU Commitment

Adam Schreck (Manasquan) has tweeted a commitment to join the Golden Rams. At 6-5 220lbs, Schreck is a football player. As a defensive end, he registered 47 tackles, including 13.5 sacks, 18 quarterback hurries, three pass breakups and a forced fumble. As a tight end, he hauled in 14 catches for 235 yards and five touchdowns. And after those touchdowns, he was responsible for the PAT kick. And after the PAT, he served as the team's kickoff specialist. After finishing 3-7 the previous two seasons, this past year, Manasquan won the NJSIAA Central Group II championship and finished with a record of 10-2.

Player News - Devin Darden Reportedly to WCU

Devin Darden (Ben Franklin) is reportedly coming to West Chester to continue his academic and football careers. The 5-11, 170lb athlete played quarterback for the Electrons, but projects to the secondary with the Golden Rams. After falling in the Philadelphia Public League Class 5A semi-finals, Franklin drubbed Dobbins Tech on Thanksgiving Day to finish the season 8-3. As a junior, Darden threw for 21 touchdowns, including one in Franklin's Class 4A playoff loss.

Player News - Ethan Harris Reportedly a Golden Ram

Ethan Harris (Downingtown East) is joining the Golden Ram football team. The 5-10, 180lb wide receiver also played safety for the Cougars. In ten games this past season, he grabbed 38 passes for 671 yards and ten touchdowns for a team that advanced to the second round of the PIAA District 1 Class 6A playoffs finishing with a record of 9-3.

Player News - Mike Piperno Tweets Golden Ram Commitment

Mike Piperno (Washington Township) has tweeted his plans to further his academic and football careers at West Chester University. The 6-3, 180lb quarterback earned the starting spot midway through his sophomore season, completing 36 of 68 passes for 560 yards and eight touchdowns. He followed that up by throwing for 1,563 yards and 17 scores in leading the Minutemen to the South Jersey Group 5 playoffs as a junior. This past season, Piperno was 115 of 208 for 1,603 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Player News - Tyrone Hodges Tweets Golden Ram Commitment

Tyrone Hodges (Pennsbury) has tweeted a commitment to play football at West Chester University. The 5-10, 180lb athlete is extremely versatile on the gridiron. In 2015, when the Falcons advanced to the PIAA District 1 Class 4A semi-finals, Hodges started the season on the defensive line and finished at linebacker. As a senior, he moved to free safety. It's no surprise on offense that he played both wide receiver and running back. Oh, and Hodges is also an all-conference left fielder for the Pennsbury baseball team.

Player News - Brendan Ruskowski Signs with West Chester

Brendan Ruskowski (Archbishop Ryan) has signed with the Golden Rams. The 6-3, 255lb offensive lineman also played defensive tackle for the Raiders which advanced to the PIAA District 12 Class 5A semi-finals.

Player News - Jack Farrell Reportedly Signs with WCU

Jack Farrell (Haverford) has reportedly signed with West Chester. The 6-1 210lb linebacker logged 102 tackles and five interceptions for the Fords as a junior. He followed that up with 96 tackles, five forced fumbles and two defensive touchdowns this past season as Haverford qualified for the PIAA District 1 Class 6A playoffs.

Player News - Mack Focht Reportedly a Golden Ram

Mack Focht (Garden Spot) has reportedly committed to attend West Chester University to play football. The 5'9 180lb wide receiver also has one of the best 100m times in District 3. The Mini Max Award recipient had 42 catches for 920 yards and 10 touchdowns this past season after posting 45 receptions for 897 yards and 13 total touchdowns as a junior. After both of those seasons, Focht was named the Lancaster-Lebanon Section 2 Wide Receiver of the Year.

Player News - Keith Swartley a Golden Ram

Keith Swartley (Cinnaminson) has reportedly committed to West Chester University. The 6-2, 280lb two-way lineman was a four-year starter for the Pirates who qualified for the NJSIAA South Group 2 playoffs in five of the past six seasons. Also an accomplished wrestler, he won the Region 7 title the past two seasons and is currently ranked in the top five in the state in the 285lb weight class.
