The West Chester defense surrendered 70 yards on Bentley’s first possession of the game, thanks in large part to a 47-yard pass on the first play of the game. The Falcons later gained 78 yards on the final drive of the game, long after both teams had substituted liberally. In between, the Golden Rams allowed just five first downs and a total of 65 yards, forced seven three-and-outs, three fumbles and two Tyler Morrissey sacks.
Meanwhile, West Chester quarterback Paul Dooley sparkled, completing 12 of 15 pass attempts for 183 yards and three scores. Dooley’s touchdown passes went to Jordan Banks, Simon Williams and Tyler Karpinski. Mark Dukes and Jarel Elder each had touchdown runs.

Long connected with redshirt freshman speedster Rasheem James on a 43-yard touchdown pass, but he also took two sacks and fumbled twice. Redshirt freshman signal caller Mike Alley didn’t help his cause for playing time by fumbling on his only play in the game.
Redshirt freshman Jordan Burney got the start at strong safety and registered a team-high five tackles, recovered a fumble and registered a quarterback hurry. Deionte Wilson also had five tackles including four solo stops.

Defensive back Isaiah Cruz notched four tackles and a pass breakup while tight end Gabe Schappell was in on several plays, but was not targeted with a pass. Sophomore kicker Andrew Chegia connected on a 26-yard field goal and his only PAT attempt.
One of the most entertaining plays came late in the third quarter. Bentley had first down on their own 25 yard line, but the snap squirted past the quarterback. Defensive end George Shipp, in pursuit of the ball, tossed the quarterback aside like a rag doll and found the end zone on a two-yard scoop and score. Earlier in the game, Ch'aim Smith suffered an injury to his right leg and joined fellow defensive end John Dubyk on crutches.
