It was just the second full season after World War II for head coach Glenn Killinger, but West Chester was already a college football force. West Chester opened the season with wins over Moravian and Drexel and then shutout Penn Military College, now Widener. West Chester reached a record of 5-0 after knocking off Albright and Lock Haven. Their final four opponents of the regular season - East Stroudsburg, Rider, City College of New York and Millersville - were defeated by a combined score of 94-0.
The team received an invitation to the Burley Bowl over Thanksgiving where they downed Carson-Newman by a score of 20-6 in Johnson City, TN. Then they played in the Cigar Bowl in Tampa, FL on New Year's Day, however they fell to Missouri Valley by a tally of 26-7. With the win, Missouri Valley extended their winning streak to 31 games.
