Player News - Ronell Williams Nominated For Cliff Harris Award

Junior linebacker Ronell Williams has been named one of the candidates for the Cliff Harris Award which is presented to the small college defensive player of the year. The award was created this year by the Little Rock Touchdown Club and is presented to the top defensive player among NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA schools as chosen by head coaches and a committee of college and professional football greats.


So far this season, Williams has 43 solo tackles and 37 assists for a team leading 80 total tackles. This includes 7.5 tackles for loss of which 3.5 were quarterback sacks. He's also notched three quarterback hurries, three pass breakups and recovered a fumble. Williams made an incredible touchdown saving interception against East Stroudsburg and logged another one at Lock Haven.


Among the 100 nominees, 41 are from Division II, 42 are from Division III and 17 are from NAIA schools. Finalists will be chosen from each division will be selected December 4 and the overall winner will be announced on December 24. The trophy will be presented to the recipient at the Little Rock Touchdown Club’s annual awards banquet in February 2014 featuring guest speaker Lou Holtz.
